Answer to Blakeley Lane Dhurch Bricks

The ANSWER to the Numbered Bricks in Blakeley Lane Church. Phoned in by Bernice from Audlem:

"A sponsorship was set up to get Blakeley Lane Church built. A Sponsors List was written on paper to record the sum donated. Each sponser was numbered - A record was kept  until the reqired amount of money was raised for building to go ahead.

These numbers were then given to the Brick-Maker to be molded into the bricks before they were sent to the kilns for firing.

They were then passed on to the brick-layers and, as we can see from the photo, remain,  a lasting reminder of an event,  that took place long ago."
