Winkhill Singing Success

Our congratulations to Mr Francis Cotton, known as Abbie,  on his success at BlackpoolFestival : Where he competed in five events and won them all.

The 72 year old tenor and grandfather of six who sings with Leek Choral Society and Newcastle Mixed Voice Quartet fulfilled a childhood dream to win the Championship Rose Bowl and take it home with him to Winkhill.

You are an example to us all,  Abbie.   Music is for life,  it is not something to be taken up and discarded as and when the mood dictates.   In return it carries us away from the stresses and strains of every-day living - bridges language barriers - and gives pleasure to performer and listener alike.

At Cheadle Methodist Circuit we applaud your effort and hope that it may be the seed that will stimulate others to follow.
